The Chandler & Price 8x10 letterpress once belonged to Ernest Morgan, a most interesting guy. He founded the Antioch Bookplate Company and wrote an autobiography at age 93. He died, at age 95, in 2000.
Ernst Morgan's motto was, "Live and Help Live."
In 1999, he wrote, "I am deeply troubled by the syndrome of greed and perpetual growth which characterizes our society at the present time. It can ultimately lead only to disaster. I dream of a society motivated by a spirit of sharing-a society in which our lifestyle, technology, and economic organizations are geared to the well-being of our planet and the creatures that live on it-especially humankind."
Wow. That's just about all I can say. WOW.
ReplyDeleteAssuming it's working, do you have any scans of things you've printed? I get a little weak-kneed around printing presses.
